CELEBRATIONS - Happy Birthday to Caleb Iago on the 3rd and F. Scott on the 14th
Pensacolaa

Despite their extensive preparations the Griffiths sustained substantial damage  to their house from Hurricane Ivan.  They  rode out the storm without evacuation   but they were without power for 8 days and , as of this week, were still boiling all tap water before use.  Schools won't open for students until 10/11.  However, Mary Kate and Scott  were allowed to return to their classrooms on the 4th to assess damage.  It will be months before things are back to normal but the family suffered no injuries.  Mary Kate sent these before and after...mostly after...photos.

Alameda

On a happier  note Tom Weston and his wife Susie hosted a birthday party for Tom at their home in Alameda.  They hired a magician to entertain the guests and he did a great job. Aunt Ritamae, Susan and Larry attended.  First time in years we've seen so many from Uncle Jack's family.

Colorado
Kevin was Confirmed on the 10th with his Aunt Becky as Sponsor.  He's now a Lector at church and has joined the Army ROTC in his first year in high school.
We know that Aunt Carmen is doing something important.  Why won't she tell us what it is?
Brendan is playing wide receiver on the tackle football team.
Caleb is playing line on the tackle football team.
Uncle Liam's travel schedule for the 2nd half of September included Denver, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Tai Pei, San Francisco and Denver.  Whew!  No wonder he didn't have time to send pictures of the family!

 Home from the Peace Corps

Cousin Dick Dervin toured the US after returning from 2 years in the Philippines in the Peace Corps.  The experience only made him more introspective, contemplative, handsome and charming.  What a Guy!

Dick rode with me to San Francisco to collect Cael from the hospital following his shoulder surgery.  Recovery time? He insisted that a sandwich and a beer was all the recuperation he needed.

Rocklin

It was a lovely September day so Jack and Pam Baker invited us for a cruise on their lovely 34 foot cruiser along the Delta.  What a ride!  Smooth water, favorable cheese and chilled wine.  I doubt the Pilgrims had it so good.
