We tore down the
old cover, extended the patio and had a new cover built. We added furniture and a new bbq and viola! We can dine al fresco. Brenna visited for a week and we had so much fun we forgot to take any photos but this one. |

CONQUERING MOUNT
SHASTA
And other fun events |
||
|
In
July, Seamus and Cael climbed 14,162-foot Mt. Shasta, the second
highest volcano in the U.S. (just 330
feet shorter than Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower
48 states). Seamus suffered severe altitude sickness over 10,000
feet and Cael kept his eyes on the ground to avoid vertigo.
Troop 97 hiked to 8,000 feet on Saturday, then started their summit bid
at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. When the team summitted at noon on
Sunday, Seamus was one of two boys who made it to the top. Way to
go Seamus! And a pat on the back of his Pop as well!
Cael and Seamus also canoed
ten miles of Fall River with the scouts and headed off to a week of
summer camp near Crescent Lake Oregon, where Seamus worked on his
climbing, sailing, archery, and wilderness survival merit badges.
Meanwhile, Frances toured with her
traveling softball team (invitation only) to Eugene, Oregon for a
five-game tournament in July where she was the only member of the team
not to strike out. What an athlete is that girl!
Liam and Rosemary spent many hours at Lake Siskiyou with Marcella and little Ella, and Grandpa Gene bought a duplex in Mt. Shasta and is in the process of renovating it. |
