APRIL 2005
This is the 60th consecutive monthly page posted for the Weston Family. The 60 pages represent 5 years of  photos and events, 450 MB of disk space, 260 folders and 6877 files.  With this size and complexity I hope you'll forgive an occasional glitch or two.

I had hoped that by now this site would be interactive, with a blog area for making and publishing comments from all, some glitzy animation's and other upgrades.  Perhaps those will come in the next 60 editions of this site.

Meanwhile, the value of this site depends on you feeding me the news and photos that represent our families' life.

Uncle Pat recently had an assignment in
our old neighborhood.  Anything in
these photos look familiar?
How many hours did we spend here?

Liam after a trip over the handlebars of Frances' bicycle...he's healing well.
Ella remains the center of the family.
Rosie remains forever on the run.  She has lots to get done in a day.
Frances holds her new little sister,  What a classic smile.

Left:  I was lucky enough to watch the Frances' first game of the season.  She's a natural, hitting a solid single her first time and bat and later scoring a run.

Below: Cael with Geno's help built decks on two of his ski cabins and one on the large building as well.  I wonder if his kids borrow his tools?
Seamus wouldn't trade a day in Mt. Shasta with its great hiking, skiing, biking for a week in San Francisco with all it culture.

Brenna  with the cast of her 7th grade play. Is that our Brenna playing a tree? Well, we know that takes special concentration.

To the right is her official 7th grade photo

Chib met me at a lovely and famous restaurant in beautiful downtown Burbank to celebrate my birthday.  Surprisingly enough, we were only a few short distant from where I was born in the then Wilshire Hospital.

Erin, not quite 21 and preparing to transfer to San Diego State in August.  That good news must account for the beatific smile.  Did I hear someone say Mona Lisa?

COUSINS CORNER

The Delightful Dervins, all but lovely Kathleen,
attending a farewell meeting for a favored cousin
who has gone to her reward.

Words from your Web Master

I don't know if I can continue this project for another five years....but I'll try.  I believe that sharing photos and news across the scattered family helps keep us all connected.  At least I hope it does.  And I hope that it helps the grand kids understand  that they are part of something bigger than themselves, a family.  In our case it is a richly varied and widely scattered family.  But a family in the true sense of the word for all that.

I realize that our family is far too large and diverse for everyone to agree on all matters.  Maybe in some cases there is little agreement on anything.  But that doesn't matter as long as we remember that we are, in the end, a true family.

I worry about the world that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will inherit.  I worry that greed and violence and intolerance are spiraling out of control in our country as they have in many others.  I worry that my children will face economic difficulties far beyond what exist now.  I worry that my grandchildren and great grand children will face war.

But with all those worries, when I look into the bright, confident faces of my grandchildren I am filled with hope.  You represent the best that one generation can pass on to the next.  Your enthusiasm and eagerness for life is boundless.   May you always have the opportunity, in a peaceful world, to follow your dreams in confidence and with the assurance that within the family  there is always someone you can turn to for help in time of need.

Love,

Grandpa Mike
